I already have a girlfriend, anyway. Name: Axl Low Age: 24, give or take a year or two--he's not sure himself. His perpetual time travel makes keeping track of years rather difficult. However, this flirting is really only his default pattern of interaction with women, regardless of his interest in the individual. If asked, he’ll gladly tell you the only girl in the world for him is his Megumi. If he fell sick with a terminal illness, and Faust was the only person in the world that possessed the cure, he would rather take his chances with the disease. This fact is most likely thanks to the fact that Faust’s diagnosis and treatment processes generally involved being hit with a giant scalpel, but regardless of the reason Axl has been left with a deep dislike of the doctor as a result of these interactions. I-no- Axl likes I-no quite a bit—or, at least, lusts after her. Unfortunately, due to his relation to Raven (his “other self”), she doesn’t share his interest in the slightest. Despite this, Axl frequently tries making passes at her when they run into each other, spurred on by the fact that he recognizes her without being able to place her face. Called “babe” until the guitar gets busted out; that’s when he cringes and backs down, usually making a hasty retreat in the opposite direction. Ky- Unfortunately for Ky, Axl has quite a fondness for amusement at his expense, almost like the antics of an older brother without any sort of redeeming support and affection. In reality, Axl would willingly give a tip of his hat to Ky for his skill in battle and devotion to the pursuit of justice—he just thinks he needs to loosen up a bit as he does it, and if it takes a little bit of alcohol to achieve that, then so be it. Larxene- Larxene was quick to catch onto the fact that Axl is a poor, poor fool who is easily swayed by boobs, and puts up with his horrible dorkishness as a result. Plus, he takes her dancing and buys her drinks. Axl, for his part, sort of ignores her more… aggressive tendencies and continues to ineffectually flirt with her. Generally refers to her as “milady” or “princess” in reference to the fact that she tends to think of herself rather highly. Ranpha- A friend of Axl’s earned during the whole ‘mind control’ debacle, as well as Ky’s girlfriend. However, the fact that she’s already taken does nothing to put a stop to his typical flirting, and he owes her several dinner dates at this point—something he fully intends to give her as soon as he has the chance, jealous boyfriend be damned! Unfortunately stuck with the nickname “blondie.” Raven- Despite her sharing a name with his least favorite person ever, Axl is quite fond of the teenage occultist and makes a point of trying to make her at least smile once every time he speaks with her. He doesn’t always succeed, but she continues to tolerate him and his jokes, so he figures it doesn’t bother her too much and keeps trying anyway. He hopes she’ll open up to him more in the future, but isn’t holding his breath. Affectionately dubbed “Lenore” or “Len.” Rinoa- Rinoa is, basically, Axl’s definition of an awesome person. After all, she helped him find jobs to pay for a puppy and informed him that she would rather not see him die in the aftermath of a “cats-vs.-dogs”-spawned argument—how could anyone be more awesome than that? She’s also just about the only person he can have a friendly adult conversation with, which is always a plus. Usually referred to as “Rinny” or “Rin.” Sol- An old friend of Axl’s, he and Sol have an… interesting relationship. Sol does his best to brush of Axl at every opportunity, leading to the blond working very hard to become good at getting under his skin—something he has succeeded in with a fair degree of success (and if all else fails, he can just blackmail him with that picture of Sol as a child he kept…). However, Axl still cares deeply for Sol as his oldest friend, and would like to honestly believe Sol feels the same way about him. Also Axl’s favorite sparring partner and drinking buddy, provided he doesn’t have to pick up the bill. Sunako- Axl has made it his mission in life to drag Sunako out into the sunlight from time to time—even if it means having to meet her half way and do creepy things like ghost hunting. He’s not really sure how much progress he’s making with her social skills, but damnit, he’s trying. Nicknamed “S-ko.” Zakuro- Axl’s newest “project,” Zakuro is yet another girl that he’s trying to convince to lighten up. Though she’s very quiet and reserved around him, he seems to have wormed his way into her heart at least a little bit. He’s also offered her a safe haven when Sol and Xianghua’s… activities get too loud, so that has to count for something. She’s yet to acquire a nickname, but in time this will likely be remedied. Axl stands at average height or slightly above, with a thin, lanky frame. Facially, he is neither stunningly handsome nor particularly bad to look at (unless one has an aversion to angular features, perpetually amused blue eyes, or his customary crooked grin). His blond hair is long, falling down to his waist, and usually tied down with a bandana. All in all, he has no particularly distinguishing features except for the aforementioned hair and a tendency to dress like a refugee from the 70s British punk movement. The important thing to remember about him is that he looks nothing like Axl Rose at all Despite his constant failure to find a way home and generally dire situation, Axl maintains a constantly upbeat attitude. He would much prefer to simply go with the flow, and often attributes the outcomes of situations to simple luck, whether or not he can take any credit or blame for himself. It’s all part of his laid-back, light-hearted view of the world. He hates serious conflict as well, and has a tendency to roll over and surrender at the first signs of a serious fight—he does enjoy sparring to keep his skills sharp, however, and he will fight if he believes doing so can save him from future clashes. Fun-loving and a bit of a joker, Axl is generally out-going and quite a people person. He won’t hesitate to start up conversation with a stranger if something about them catches his attention. Speak with him for a few minutes, and you might find him talking to you like an old friend the next time you see him. Axl also can be quite a flirt, with varying degrees of success. However, he is very rarely serious about his passes at woman, simply because he is determined to remain faithful to Megumi despite the distance between them. On the surface, it seems that he doesn’t take anything at all seriously, treating everything as a joke that has no effect on him personally. However, he has a truly solemn and dedicated side to him, however rarely this aspect of him surfaces. It can be noticed, however, by looking at his determination to return to his own time—his main motivation for doing so is to reunite with his girlfriend, whom he cares deeply for despite his constant flirting with other girls. Axl was originally born in the late 20th century—in the slums of a city plagued by gang warfare. As a result, he learned how to defend himself with a kusarigama as he was growing up. Eventually, he decided it would be best to put his skills to good use and decided to take up the role of a vigilante. Under his watch, the violence was all but wiped out, a testament to his skill in battle. However, in his early twenties something bizarre happened—he began to time travel involuntarily, eventually carrying him 150 years into the future. Motivated by his desire to be reunited with his long-term girlfriend, he spent a good deal of time looking for a way back home, even entering the dangerous Sacred Knights Tournament under the impression that the winner's wish would be granted to them. At one point, he located Dr. Faust, who diagnosed him with “involuntary timeslipping,” caused be the existence of an “other him.” Hearing that “that man” had a similar problem, Axl located and confronted him in the hopes of finding a cure for his “illness”. However, “that man” explained that he merely had an extended lifespan, and the introduced Axl to his “other self,” Raven. With only a cryptic accusation in response to his question of how his “other self” came to exist, he experienced his most violent timeslip yet, pushing him not only through time but dimensional space, dumping him at the Academy. Though one wouldn’t expect it, Axl is actually extremely skilled in battle. With the use of his kusarigama, he was able to all but wipe out the gang warfare in his hometown single-handedly, a testament to his skill in battle. Since his timeslipping began, he has been able to pick up a little bit of fire magic from Sol, which he has incorporated into his fighting style. He’s not above the use of cheap tricks, either—he prefers to make maximum use of his typically superior range, and has been known to throw the bandana he perpetually wears into the face of his opponent to provide a distraction.
